FAQ: Some questions answered...
What personally identifiable information does EXPLODE collect from me?
Some personal information about you is gathered if you choose to subscribe to the EXPLODE newsletter. When you join, EXPLODE asks you for your name and e-mail address.
What happens if I enter a competition?
When you enter a competition or promotion run by EXPLODE we may ask you for personal information - this may include your name, e-mail address, birth date, gender and postcode. When this happens we will advise you at the time if the information is being gathered for a purpose not made clear in this policy. Promotions and competitions run by EXPLODE may be sponsored by companies other than Pacific Magazines Pty Ltd. or may be co-sponsored by Pacific Magazines Pty Ltd. and another company. Some or all information collected during a promotion may be shared with the sponsor.
What happens if I answer a survey or poll?
EXPLODE may occasionally ask site visitors to complete surveys or polls about things they do and don't like, or what they think about a famous person, a new TV show etc. We do this so that we can create a better site and a better magazine for you to enjoy.
Your responses also help us to sell advertising space and so keep the EXPLODE website free and the cover price of the magazine as low as possible.
How does EXPLODE use information about me and what happens to it?
Some EXPLODE services may be offered in conjunction with a partner company now or in the future. In order to provide this co-branded service to you, it is necessary for us to share your personal information with our partner companies.
EXPLODE may, from time to time, send you an e-mail regarding products and services. This information may also be included in the EXPLODE newsletter now or in the future. Occasionally these promotion-related e-mail messages may include advertisements targeted at someone who is your age and gender.
Please be aware that Pacific Magazines Pty Ltd, our advertisers, or other websites that may now or in the future have links on our site, may collect personally identifiable information about you. The information practices of those websites linked to EXPLODE are not covered by this privacy statement.
With whom does EXPLODE share my information?
EXPLODE may occasionally share your information with others. If you do not wish to allow your information to be shared, you can choose not to participate in certain promotions or contests or select to opt out of your information being shared on a registration page.
We will never give away your personal information except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe (in good faith) that the law requires it.
What are cookies and how do they work?
Cookies are text files that websites place on your computer. These files contain information on which pages of a particular site you visit the most. They also hold information on any parts of a website that you have customised to suit your own personal tastes. When you revisit a site, it accesses the cookies it sent you earlier. A cookie can only store information that you provide. For example, a website can only retrieve your e-mail address if you type it in by using a form. Cookies cannot give a site access to the rest of your computer.
Why does the EXPLODE site use cookies?
EXPLODE may now or in the future use cookies so that it can recognise you when you revisit the site from the same computer. This speeds things up and makes your visit more personalised.
Can I get rid of cookies?
Yes you can. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. However, most people choose to keep cookies because they help websites to work much more efficiently. |
